KATIE GAO is a research assistant with the Population Wellness Lab and recent graduate of Harvard College. She is involved in projects spanning the domains of neurocognition, bereavement practices, and COVID-19.

Elaine Jeon

ELAINE JEON

ELAINE JEON is an MPH-65 candidate in Health and Social Behavior, with a concentration in health communication. Her research interests are focused on how multi-level forces—from society and culture to institutions to social networks to individual factors—shape people’s access to and engagement with health information. Currently, Elaine is working with Professor Denckla on examining associations between linguistic predictors and health outcomes through written bereavement narratives. Prior to Harvard, she received her master’s in global affairs as a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University and researched how family-centered values shape end-of-life decision-making in China. Prior to China, Elaine worked as a management consultant for four years, collaborating with health organizations across Asia and the Middle East.

Claire McLaughlin

CLAIRE MCLAUGHLIN

CLAIRE MCLAUGHLIN is a master’s student completing her MPH in Health and Social Behavior at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She is also a student at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and intends to pursue psychiatry. She is interested in the impact of trauma and resilience on mental health throughout the life course, with a particular focus on perinatal psychiatry and women’s mental health. Outside of work, she enjoys watching college basketball, listening to live music, and exploring with her dogs and partner.

Maleeka Shrestha

MALEEKA SHRESTHA

MALEEKA SHRESTHA is a first-year student in the Master of Public Health program in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harvard Chan. Maleeka’s current research interest is in understanding the linguistic predictors of health outcomes in bereaved population. Maleeka is also interested in end-of-life care and mental health of caregivers of terminally ill individuals.
